TN

8 April 2015: 16.7 miles to campsite

Hit mile 400!

First waterfall crossing on the trail

This shelter was a triple decker (a rarity) with a random bear carving in the third story

9 April 2015: 13.2 miles to Pond Flats campsite

First snake we have seen on the trail, since then we have seen a snake between 10-11am everyday, I've taken to calling this "the snaking hour"... because im not really creative when I am tired

Random barn just out in the middle of the woods

A super cute hostel called "Black Bear Resort" where we went just for a quick resupply. I would deff. come back to stay as a Daywalker

A interesting section of trail that skirts some roaring rapids

10 April 2015: 19 miles to Iron Mountain Shelter

 Breakfast stop

A sample of a typical trail log entry... forgive me this one was before lunch and I am not very eloquent when thinking about food soon to be consumed

11 April 2015: 27 miles to Damascus VA!!!! -- known as a "Damascathon"

Some early morning trail magic!!! They were actually going up to restock the trail magic box in the woods... which we had actually seen a few minutes earlier and assumed it was a racoon trap or something (it wasnt that obvious). We were very lucky they flagged us down and told us the thing we mistook for rodent torture device was actually full of treats for hikers!!!

Back in VA!!!!

We were excited (Silent Bob, Stoat, and Poppins)

Super excited... and yes, i ran off and peed with one foot in TN and VA... because I can that's why!!! Think about it, you're not going to stop your car to accomplish such a feat (also you are much more likely to get caught by a state trooper trying to pee across state lines on the interstate) but backpacking is slow enough to appreciate the little things in life.

The first MAJOR milestone for all thru-hikers is to reach Damascus, Va

Some accomplishments in life need to be celebrated to the fullest.. and sometimes that entails celebrating in the dorkiest way possible
